Lately, I’ve been craving chips and salsa. Not the chunky store-bought salsa but the kind you find at a restaurant. Restaurant-style salsa is fresh, natural, and light. Since we have been staying home, like most of you, we needed food, so I took the opportunity to buy the necessary ingredients to satisfy my cravings and the rest is history! I have been eating chips and salsa non-stop and once you make it, I bet you will be doing the same!
Note: I forgot to buy jalapeño peppers but it still turned out amazing!
Ingredients
- 1 10oz can of diced tomatoes with green chiles
- 1 14.5oz can of diced tomatoes
- 1/3 cup of fresh cilantro leaves
- juice of 1/2 large lime
- 1/2 red onion (previously submerged in hot water)
- 1 garlic clove (previously submerged in hot water)
- 1/4 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp honey
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 jalapeño pepper (optional)
Directions
- In a bowl, place the red onion and garlic clove. Pour hot water over them and let them sit for 3-5 min (this will make them less pungent).
- In a blender or food processor place all the ingredients.
- Pulse until you reach the desired consistency.
